July 30, Chrissie Wellington finished the 2.2km-115km-22km event second overall, just one minute, 23 seconds slower than the men's winner Marcus Ornellas (Brazil).

Ornellas rode a brilliant 4:04:20 bike split on the gut-busting ride up Alpe d'Huez - just one week after Tour de France riders rode the great alpine climb.

Wellington was not far back, logging the third fastest bike time.
