Chamonix is hosting the Freeride World Qualifier this weekend.

With 11 independent competitions this winter, across Europe and the United States. The Freeride World Qualifier stages go to create 4 Freeride World Tour (FWT) events for which the world’s best athletes are selected by their ranking (like in ATP tennis). The ‘Qualifiers’ allow riders from around the globe to be ranked in the Freeride World Ranking (FWR)

Simply put, the better you do in the Qualifiers the better chance of participating in the Freeride World Tour.

Competition format

Each rider goes down the slope one after the other.

How they get from point A to B is their choice. The run is judged by a panel of judges the foot of the slope. One score is given for overall impression for each rider. To evaluate the athletes, the judges use a 10-point system from 1.0 to 10.0.

The judges are looking for line choice, fluidity and control.

09:00-18:00  Riders Accreditation at Majestic Hotel
14:00-15:00  Face inspection (binoculars) + Riders Meeting ,in front of the Pentes de l'Hotel, Brévent
17:00-18:00  Bib draw, in front of the Brasserie l'M

Sunday, 15th of Feb
07:00    Ski-lift opening
08:30-13:00  CONTEST on the Pentes de l'Hotel at Le Brévent
15.00-18.00  Street Fair with live band, in front of the Brasserie l'M
17.00-17.30  PRIZE-GIVING, in front of the Brasserie l'M
17.30-18.00  Riders Autograph Session, in front of the Brasserie l'M
22.00-02.00  Official Party - location to be confirmed
