This year there are a series of "zero impact" events with limited use of ski lifts, gasoline-powered generators for electricity and sound systems, snowmobiles and snowcats to host the event.
But it's still promised to be an absolute scorcher of an event. This year the door will be open to all forms of skiing, even to unique, eccentric types of sliding on the snow because Livigno has always been, since the freestyle era, a hub of innovative skiing.
Festival events will include the popular Trepallina Party; a barbecue in the remote Alpine valley of Vallacia and the Fire Party, although this year they will both be zero-impact events with this year's new environmental focus - so there will be acoustic instruments, and cozy campfires where each person can roast his or her own dinner.
The Damiano's Classic is still on the calendar (classic solo ski race), as is the Époque team costume exhibition.
Free Ride, an off piste race and the TeleSnowSki Show are two new events.
The Trasumanza, a newly created backcountry excursion will encourage organizers and participants of all levels to ski and picnic in Livigno's back yard wilderness. Organizers have programmed two excursions each day in the company of Alpine Guides, one for experts and one for beginners, plus two bivouacs centered around zero-impact principles. There is also a Film Festival, with films presented in different locations all over Livigno.
All in all, a brilliant reason to get out to Livigno
