Middle of Feb 2009 in France could be hectic

If you are planning on going skiing over the February school break and have yet to book, we'd suggest looking beyond France if you can.

The week that begins on St Valentine’s Day (February 14) is going to be MANIC.

For the first time in nearly a decade, almost all schools in England and Wales have chosen the same week, rather than spreading the holiday over two weeks.

This week also coincides with the busiest week off from French schools.

So if you must go to France that week - and I guess for lots of families there is no other choice - we'd suggest booking as soon as you can. You might also have to drive or get the train rather than flying.

It's not all doom and gloom though.. 'cos you can still choose quieter resorts in France, and perhaps you could be a bit more flexible in holiday destination and look a bit further afield, whether that's Austria, Switzerland or Italy or Bulgaria. There are some fantastic deals to be had.
