Record breaking snow across Europe

Apparently in three days some ski areas have seen almost as much snowfall as the whole of winter last year. The snow is perfectly timed for the ski resorts have seen a boom in sales.

Some believe there might be enough snow to last all season reducing the need for snow making equipment (and saving resorts money).

Some Swiss and Italian resorts now have snow depths of 2-3 metres (7 / 10 feet).

In Austria Heiligenblut has had a metre (40 inches) of powder in the past week.

There has been less snow in France although many have had at least a foot of new snow over the past week. Les Arcs has had 80cm (32 inches).

A number of French ski resorts open this weekend including : Les Orres, Chamrousse, L e Grand Bornand, Isola 2000 and Montgenevre, Alpe D'Huez and Courchevel.
