Scott Macartney will miss Kitzbuehel

22nd January 2009

Kitzbuehel was where Scott Macartney had his 2008 crash that ended his season. Macartney, who has two World Cup podiums, was heading for a top ten spot in the Hahnenkamm last year and had a serious crash off the last jump.

Scott has spent the year recovering and then working incredibly hard to come back to racing this year. It's a real testament to his commitment that he was competing at all. However last Saturday in the Lauberhorn downhill in Wengen, Switzerland, Macartney landed on the back of his skis off the Russisprung and injured his left knee.

"This is a tough one because everything was clicking with my skiing," said Macartney, who turned 31 this week. "My equipment was exactly where I wanted it and I was attacking the hill, especially in the last two races in Val Gardena and Bormio."

Macartney has scored World Cup points in four races this season including a 15th in Val Gardena, Italy as American skiers placed all seven starters in the top 30, including five in the top 10.
