Tignes stays open well into May

It might be the end of April, but there's still fresh snow on the mountains surrounding Tignes.Late season skiing often involves avoiding muddy patches and rocks, but a furry of snow in the high alpine resorts means that conditions look set to remain excellent well into May.The official Tignes website has reported that it is set to snow today (April 22nd) and that there is still 11 centimetres of fresh snow on the mountain. This is on top of the 1.3 metres of white stuff still on the ground in the resort.Higher up the mountain, there is even more snow, with a base of 3.1 metres supporting 20 centimetres of fresh powder.What's more, the site is forecasting that the next week is likely to become increasingly sunny, meaning that skiers could enjoy the perfect end to what has been a very good season.Lifts in Tignes are not set to close until May 11th.
