She took a minor stumble and was examined at the top of incident with no obvious injuries. No blood, no external sign of injury. She returned to her hotel room and a hour or so later started to complain of headaches and was admitted to Montreal hospital. She was then found to have a serious head injury. She was later transferred to the intensive care unit at Sacré-Coeur hospital in Montreal.

Apparently she has been transferred to a New York hospital where she is being treated, Liam has joined her after flying in from Chicago.

It is not know whether Natasha was wearing a helmet.

Natasha Richardson, 45, is the daughter of the famous brit Vanessa Redgrave. Natasha and Liam have two sons.

Natasha Richardson won a Tony award for best actress in a musical in 1998 for her role in Cabaret. Her film credits include The Parent Trap and The Handmaid’s Tale. Natasha Richardson sister is also an actress - Joely -  perhaps best known for her role as Julia McNamara in the television drama Nip/Tuck.

We wish Natasha a speedy recovery and our thoughts are with her family.
