"There aren't a thousand and one options – you just have to attack, Apart from the mistake on the second run, the day went as I had hoped it would. I love the course. It's very steep and suits my style of skiing. I made that mistake but it was only after three gates and I just told myself to try to make up the time and go for it."
Carlo Janka

Janka finished 0.71 sec ahead of Austrian Benjamin Raich, leader of the World Cup giant slalom standings and reigning Olympic champion in the discipline.

Bode Miller had a disastrous event - Bode is the current World Cup overall leader, once again paid for his aggressive skiing by crashing out.

French hopes were pinned on Jean-Baptiste Grange, but he could only manage seventh, 1.75 seconds off the pace.
