Verbier Run Guide

11th November 2008

Verbier is a beautiful village situated on a steep mountainside that looks traditional but was in fact purpose-built from the 1920s. It has a pretty centre with wooden chalets, attractive hotels, and numerous restaurants, bars and shops.

Verbier Run Guide

Montfort and Mont Gelé

Above the ski resort of Verbier are the two peaks of Mont Fort (3,330m) and Mont Gelé (3,025m) they both offer some excellent off-piste at a high altitude.

Expert skiers should book a guide and head up Mont Fort, down the spectacular Poubelle and into Siviez before hiking the ridge of Mont Gelé and following the relatively easy Tortin off piste route.

Les Attalas and La Chaux

Les Attalas has a good mix of blue and red pistes for the beginner while La Chaux has gentle, mostly red slopes. La Chaux particularly is a quieter area of Verbier.

Savoleyres

North of Verbier, this area is perfect for building confidence. In particular the long blue from the Le Taillay chair into La Tzoumaz is great for crusing.

Le Châble and Bruson

South of Verbier are two little villages - Le Châble and Bruson.

From these villages are some peaceful runs and some of Verbier’s best tree-skiing and secret powder.

Thyon-Veysonnaz and Siviez

You can get to Thyon-Veysonnaz area from Verbier by following the off piste Tortin and Gentianes routes from Mont Fort (suitable for good, confident skiers) and skiing through Siviez. Or you can get the lift from Nendaz. There are some excellent long, cruising reds between Thyon-Veysonnaz and Siviez and then some excellent routes for advanced and expert skiers by the Plan-du-Fou lift between Nendaz and Siviez.
